Nanchang CJ-6 – Chinese Air Force Trainer
The Nanchang CJ-6 is an aircraft designed and built in China for use by the People’s Liberation Army Air Force as a basic trainer. Originally designed to replace the Yak-18, the Chinese added new features including an aluminum monocoque fuselage, flush riveting throughout, a retractable tricycle undercarriage and an altered wing airfoil, with a pronounced wing dihedral in the outer sections. This improved trainer came into production in 1959. It is believed that over 10,600 of all types have been built. An unknown number remain in military service around the world and over 200 are in private hands.
Yakovlev Yak-52 – Russian Air Force Trainer
The Yakovlev Yak-52 is a Soviet primary trainer aircraft which first flew in 1976. The Yak-52 was designed originally as an aerobatic trainer for students in the Soviet DOSAAF training organization, which trained both civilian sport pilots and military pilots. Of the approximately 1,800 Yak-52s produced to date, most now fly in the United States, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia and other western countries.
Van’s Aircraft: RV-6, RV-7 and RV-8
The Van’s series of aircraft are popular homebuilt aircraft. RV aircraft are fully acrobatic, two-seat, single-engine, homebuilt aircraft sold in kit form by Van’s Aircraft. Several models of these aircraft exist and they are either tandem or side-by-side seating. The RV-8 is a tandem two seat aircraft and the RV-6 and RV-7 seats two side-by-side.
